Welcome To The Family, Zara.

Zara's backstory:

Zara was born in Romania and left on the streets with her sister, Bella. Luckily for the two girls, a Romanian rescue team found them wandering and took them in to their care and advertised the two on Facebook, alongside hundreds of other abandoned dogs, ready for people to adopt. My mum had come across the site and immediately fell in love with Zara, after having to convince my dad a little, we took the leap of adopting her and making her ours. It was about a 3 month wait, allowing Zara to get all of her injections and medical care before she finally started her travels with the other adopted dogs, such as her sister Bella, from Romania to England. Saturday, May 27th, she finally arrived and is now settled in to her new home with a family that absolutely adores her.

4 months old and looking like a giant!
Zara has settled in so incredibly well, on her first day with us, we went out in to the back garden as she had never been indoors and we didn't want her to feel too overwhelmed. She didn't hide or hesitate coming to us for some love, she made her way to each one of us at her own pace and attached herself to me whenever she heard an unusual sound or saw something that she'd never seen before. Honestly, it felt like she'd been part of the family forever, not just 20 minutes at this point. Since she had a sister to play with I assume the rescuers didn't really give them any toys, because she was absolutely terrified of every toy we put out in front of her, thankfully after a day or two she has grown very fond of toys and finds herself getting rather stressful when she hears squeaky toys and has no idea where the squeak is coming from and why she can't get to it.

She was absolutely terrified of the ball on this toy and would only touch the rope part.
Her and Joey (our other dog) have been progressively getting along, sometimes they have their snaps if Zara gets too giddy or if Joey goes near the food, but of course it's at that point where they're both trying to say who's boss. I think they'll learn to love each other one day. They have their good moments where they'll run around the garden together and play tug-of-war, so we're incredibly pleased with how well they've both accepted each other in such a short space of time.

She's currently at the teething stage... Oh the joys! Everything in sight is getting picked up and chewed, including our hands, which as I sit and write this, have two big scratch marks across them because of those sharp teeth.

Her toilet training is going swimmingly, now and again we'll get a few slip ups which is normal, but overall she is very much aware of where she should be doing her business and that makes our lives a whole lot easier and our house a whole lot cleaner.

We attempted her very first walk and she got as far as the neighbours driveway, then laid down on the ground. So... this one needs a lot of work.

Whenever she yawns, she does this high pitched squeak each time and honestly it's my favourite thing about her so far.

Can we talk about how photogenic she is, please!?
She is so loving and well trained that you just know the rescue team in Romania really take pride in what they're doing for these dogs. We've had contact with the woman who took in Zara's sister, Bella, and they've said she was also loving as soon as she was brought to her new home which is amazing. There's nothing more we want for Zara than to give her the most loving home possible, after being dumped on the streets for what was probably weeks, she deserves all our attention and all the treats in the world, with us she will definitely get spoilt rotten.

Isn't she just the cutest!? Leave a comment below, I'd love to know what you think of my new baby!
